ASMBLY HALL's Invitation to The White House, March 2023

On Monday, March 27th 2023, I had the honor of visiting The White House as a small business owner for Asmbly Hall, an invitation from President Joe Biden sent to a select number of successful and resilient female small business owners and influential business leaders across the country, in celebration of Women’s History Month.

I was still on a high after our AAPI round table with VP Kamala Harris a few weeks prior! But just as it was meeting the VP, meeting POTUS at The White House was an even crazier surreal experience. I had the opportunity to walk around the East Wing of The White House, in awe of everything I saw and the history I felt. I wandered through the eloquent White House library, stood outside POTUS office & the Oval Office, walked a few steps up the residence quarters, felt captivated by original paintings of Presidents & First Ladies adorning the walls, and experienced the ever-so-elegant Jackie O bathroom where I snagged my fave souvenir~ thick, crisp white napkins with the official White House seal stamped in gold.

We had the privilege of listening to President Biden speak and thank all of us- FEMALE small business owners, for what we do for the economy, the job market, the country. He spoke to us for 30 minutes, expressing that small business owners are the engine of our economy and the glue to the heart & soul of our communities- something Ron and I have been preaching about over the years through our small business. President Biden also stated that there are 12 million female small business owners in the country, accounting for 40% of the nations GDP. I am so proud to be a part of this number!

In the end, I had the opportunity to shake President Biden’s hand. Sadly no footage as I respectfully put my phone away as we shook hands. I also had the pleasure of meeting SPANX founder Sara Blakely, we even shared a moment in the Jackie O bathroom where she said- “you look great!” as I took a mirror selfie.

I’m so honored to have had this opportunity! Its moments like this that make our hustle over the last 12 years as small business owners of Asmbly Hall all worth it in the end!
